Solon is Ska, so more like Skalon right?
Titanfall 2 has been no secret for some time now. Vince Zampella, CEO of the game’s developer Respawn Entertainment, let the sequel’s existence be known casually in an interview, like it was a known quantity. Now the game’s lead writer, Jesse Stern, is letting us know some more information.
For one, Titanfall 2 won’t be coming out anytime soon. According to Forbes the game is slated for release in 2017 despite some speculation that 2016 would be the year the mech combat game would return. Also in development is a television show, also being written by Stern, that will give players a deeper understanding of the Titanfall setting. Stern says that was one of the first Titanfall’s problems, the lack of explanation and context for what was happening around.
Some of the deeper information about Respawn’s expansion after Titanfall’s success is incredible. Stories about Respawn not having enough computers, and choosing to focus on multiplayer over single player during development. After logging in over ten million users Titanfall 2 looks to be even bigger. According to Stern the sequel won’t be console exclusive and “going to be widely available…on all platforms”.
I’m always a bit wary when someone tries to sell me a multimedia tie-in. Video games are notorious for making poor films, let alone TV shows. Titanfall 2 is poised to impact the market and possibly change the first-person shooter landscape. Titanfall’s mobility mechanic has quickly filtered down to the genre’s behemoths Call of Duty and Halo, so I’m hoping Titanfall 2 can set another high water mark way off in the strange future year of 2017.
