Fightsticks are a great way to play Spyro, apparently.
EA’s E3 presentation, EA Play, started off today with a look at an upcoming single-player Star Wars game, of which there hasn’t been for the better part of a decade. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order looks like a marriage between Uncharted and the Star Wars brand, and while the alpha footage looked a bit too clean and crisp, what we saw looks like a promising action-adventure title from Respawn Entertainment.
The gameplay preview showcased numerous gameplay elements, including the typical suite of action platforming; climbing, wall-running, swinging, and tightrope walking are all here, but with an expected Jedi twist. In one section, player character Cal used a new force ability, “slow,” to stall a rotating platform for safe passage, and this new ability was also used in combat to great effect. Seeming to take a page out of Dishonored‘s playbook, you can force-slow a stormtrooper’s blaster bolt, force-pull said trooper to you, and then have him shoot himself.
The game is set after the events of Episode III, and features some familiar characters like Saw Gerrera from Rogue One. All in all, if you like Star Wars or action-adventure games in the vein of Uncharted, you’ll probably enjoy this one.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to release on November 15th later this year for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
