The Force is strong this year at E3. First a new expansion for The Old Republic, then a mobile card game, now this. Finally, after ten years, the newest installment in the Star Wars: Battlefront franchise has been previewed. Although many features have been previously announced, this is the first in-depth look at the new game.

This is, without a doubt, the best-looking Star Wars game I’ve ever seen. The Moon of Hoth battle shown above looks amazing, really capturing the feeling of the battle from The Empire Strikes Back. The developers, EA DICE, did there homework too. In order to create a more authentic Star Wars experience, they took actual props and sound effects from the movies and put them into the game directly. This effort pays off in spades, with AT-ATs marching across the icy battlefield looking just like their stop-motion movie counterparts. The Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker battle teaser at the end was the icing on the cake.

Of course, looks are only part of the equation. The real test of quality will be having people get hands-on experience with the game. The general public will get that chance when Star Wars: Battlefront releases on November 17 for PS4, XBox One, and PC.

The game was given more time in the spotlight at Sony’s conference, though the only real details mentioned was that it will apparently have a fulfilling single player offline experience, and we got a look at a new map and some more gameplay.
